Structure
There are two sections in the Institute:
- agricultural engineering section
- agri-environmental section (agronomy and environmental management).
The Institute consists of:
- Headquarters in Falenty
- Branch in Warsaw with Masovian Reseach Centre in Kłudzienko
- Branch in Poznań
- Lower Silesian Research Centre in Wrocław with Field Station in Kamieniec Wrocławski
- Kujawsko-Pomorski Research Centre in Bydgoszcz
- Małopolski Research Centre in Kraków with Field Station in Jaworki and Mountain Centre of Studies and Implementations in Tylicz
- West Pomeranian Research Centre in Szczecin
- Żuławski Research Centre in Elbląg with Field Station in Gdańsk
The Institute is headed by Director who is responsible for the whole Institute's activity.
Deputy Directors are:
- Scientific Director for Agri-environmental Affairs
- Scientific Director for Agricultural Engineering
- Director for Economic Affairs - Chief Accountant
- Director for Administration and Technical Affairs
Scientific Board is the authority initiating, consulting and advising statutory activity of the Institute and the development of scientific and technical staff.
Basic research units of the Institute are: departments, regional research centres and field stations. Sections and posts are the technical and service supporting units. Departments include also the research laboratory of the Institute of Technology and Life Sciences and the Product Certification Unit.
Departments are situated in the headquarter in Falenty and in Warsaw and Poznań branches. Headquarter in Falenty is headed directly by the Director of the Institute, branches are headed by the Director through branch managers.
Regional research centres are the organizationally and economically distinguished units whose activity is mainly focussed on regional issues. Centres and departments may have separate labs. Regional centre is headed by its director.
Within the scientific activity directors of centres, heads of departments and branch managers are directly responsible to scientific directors, in administrative and technical activities - to the Director for Administration and Technical Affairs and in economic and financial issues - to the Director for Economic Affairs - Chief Accountant and his/her deputy.
Field station is headed by a manager responsible to the director of respective centre.
Service units may be established in the headquarter, branches and research centres to offer services based on special price lists.
The Institute includes experimental farms in Biebrza, Falenty and Poznań directed by their managers. Experimental farm is a distinguished merit, administrative and economic unit which operates based on full internal account and separate budget. Managers of experimental farms co-operate with the Director for Administration and Technical Affairs and with the Chief Accountant and his/her deputy.
Independent research teams may be formed to solve special topics and inter-disciplinary problems.
To facilitate career development the staff members of similar specialties but employed in different departments and centres may group in discussion scientific clubs.
